Dorian is our Laguna EX-C 150W laser cutter. The bed size is 36" x 51" and it uses Lightburn software with a controller and interface similar to [[Tarkin]]. Dorian also has a rotary fixture, so you can use it to engrave round things like glassware.

As of 4/5/22, it is online and ready for member use.

Our new (04/23) sublimation printer is a Sawgrass SG-1000 loaded with '''Siser EasySubli ink'''. The standard paper tray supports media up to 11x17". The bypass tray allows printing on oversize media up to 13"x51" (13'x19" is the largest pre-cut size paper available.

Using the sublimation printer requires the use of the Sawgrass Print Manager Program. Print Manager is installed on the textiles computer.

The Sawgrass SG1000 sublimation printer requires that you print via their Print Manager.

(It is important to note that while the printer will put ink on the paper if you don't go through the print manager, the results will be much worse)

The print manager is a good program. It’s designed specifically for sublimation, so it takes care of adjusting ink levels so that they are appropriate for the substrate you are pressing onto. It helps you fit more projects onto one page as well as automatically mirror your image. The workflow is not hard, but feels a little fussy at the start - just like when you have to learn any new software.

The print manager is installed on the textiles computer. You are welcome to get started there.

This video should be a good starting point so you can learn the basic workflow. Heads up that this video is on a mac, and the textiles computer is a PC.

Ink/Stitch is provided as an all in one setup package from their website. They also have many guides and tutorials on how to use the plugin on their website.

The overall process is pretty user friendly. You just create or import your vector graphic into Inkscape. Use the plug-ins "Clean-Up" function to check for any problematic elements of the image (e.g. tiny patches). Next generate a realistic preview using the plugin to make sure it appears as expected. Then save the file to your preferred embroidery format in the "Save As" dialog onto a USB drive.

The Brother embroiderer uses ".pes" format which is available in Ink/Stitch. However, it supports about a dozen different embroidery formats for other machines

A few notes learned so far:

* The max size for the medium embroidery hoop is 4x4. Make sure your image is smaller than that. Larger images are possible, but require some maneuvering. Check youtube for this.
* Store your ".pes" file at the root of your USB drive for easy access.
* Text elements created using the Text [T] tool in Illustrator or Inkscape will need to be converted to outlines. Or, you can use the built in text to within Ink/Sketch
* Be sure to use a sturdy fusible interface on your fabric when embroidering

Epson ET-16600 Sublimation Printer

Our Epson ET-16600 is a tabloid-plus (up to 13"x19") inkjet printer/copier loaded with Hiipoo sublimation ink. You can create heat-press-ready sublimation media by copying print media up to 11"x17" or direct-printing up to 13"x19" from your own computer.

The ET-16600 is equipped with an 11x17 double-sided scanner and is set up for scan-to-email.
