This spreadsheet has a list of common wood species and their corresponding prices at different suppliers. Please update the spreadsheet if you have recent pricing information from a purchase you or someone you know has made, or a quote you have received.

Fine Lumber - Large supplier of hardwood and plywood near ASMBLY. Offers some milling and panel cutting. You can walk the warehouse and pick out your own lumber. To purchase, walk the warehouse, pick out what you want, then call the phone number. If you're picking up plywood, they will usually let you drive through the warehouse, once you're ready to purchase.

Dakota Hardwoods - South Austin, East Stassney Lane. Cabinetry focused chain of lumber stores. Hardwood and plywood. You cannot walk the warehouse, but they will bring an entire pallet out to you to pick through. Excellent for cabinet hardware and parts. You walk into the front office, place your order (it does not have to be a firm order, but at least the species or product you want to look at). They give you a preliminary order form. Drive around back to the loading ramp and park. Walk up the ramp and clip the paper to the board at the roll up door. A lift operator will pick it up and bring the pallet(s) out to you to pick through. Lift operator will change the order sheet depending on what you select. Load up, go back to front with sheet, and pay. 512-389-9773

Swift River Pecan - Small mill dealing mostly in pecan, in Fentress, TX. Between San Marcos and Luling. Some cypress, a little live oak. Lots of slabs, cookies and rough 4/4, 8/4, 12/4. If you're looking for spalted pecan, great place to go. Get some amazing pecans while you are there. Owner usually works the front and will walk you back to the lumber. Browse around. Prices are usually pretty good. Lower than going rate. Figured wood is particularly good here, but you do have to dig for it. 512-212-0778

Berdoll Sawmill- located near Bastrop, TX. Pecan, walnut, a few other species. Slabs, planks, and some custom milling. You can dig through the piles. Always something interesting, and usually a great selection of walnut. 512-629-3625

Bill Stuewe - Outside of Georgetown. More than a hobbiest, less than a full blown mill. Kiln dried, solar kiln dried and air dried. About 20 species. Does some custom milling and large panel glue up. Cool place to check out. Slabs, cookies and planks. 512-863-5006

Harvest Lumber - East Austin. Harvest mills trees downed in and around the city of Austin. I've seen pecan, cottonwood, live oak and long leaf pine (which was reclaimed). Slabs and planks. 512-524-0818

Hahn and Hahn Sawmill and Woodworks Great for mesquite and cedar. Red Rock, TX 78662 [321-7860|(512) 321-7860]

Blackhawk Millworks Amazing slab selection, kiln dried and flattened. (512) 738-3578
