Red Tag Procedure
This guide outlines the steps for red tagging equipment. All shop leads are encouraged to follow these steps:
1. Physical Tag
- If no physical tag is present: Attach a red or yellow tag to the equipment and write a brief description of the problem.
2. Skedda
- If you are a booking admin on Skedda:
- Mark the equipment as red-tagged in Skedda.
- If you must cancel a member’s booking, notify them via text or email with an explanation.
- If you are not a booking admin:
- Tag @skedda in the Slack comments of the problem report for the equipment.
- Include a rough end-by date and time for the red tag. A booking admin will handle the update.
3. Discourse
- Create a new post under the Red Tag category.
- Use this naming format for the title: [Type of Tag] + [Equipment Name] + [Date]
- Example: Yellow Tag - Tarkin - 10/14/24
- In the post, describe the problem and update it when a solution is found. Transparency helps members stay patient and may educate folks on how to avoid the problem in the future.
- Use this naming format for the title: [Type of Tag] + [Equipment Name] + [Date]
4. Resolution
- Once the equipment is repaired:
- End the Red Tag Skedda booking or let a booking admin know.
- Let everyone know Skedda has been updated via the problem report thread.
- Edit the Discourse post title to: Resolved + [Equipment Name] + [Date of Resolution]
- Example: Resolved - Tarkin - 10/16/24
- Remove the physical tag.
- End the Red Tag Skedda booking or let a booking admin know.
5. Wiki
- If the issue could have been avoided through member education:
- Add the solution to the equipment’s wiki page.
- Post on Discourse inviting members to learn how to prevent similar problems in the future.
