How to contribute to this wiki
We welcome contributions to this wiki. Here is a quick guide to some common tasks:
Common Tasks
Logging in
To the right of the search bar at the top of the page, you should see a drop down menu that says "Anonymous". Click it, and click the "Log in" link. You should be directed to yo.asmbly.org. Log in there and you'll be logged in to the wiki. If you're already logged in to yo.asmbly.org, it should quickly direct you back.
Editing an existing page
When logged in, you should see "Edit" and "Edit Source" links at the top of the page. "Edit" will let you edit the current page using a web-based visual editor. "Edit Source" will let you edit the page's source in Wiki markup. You can switch between the Visual editor and the Source editor by clicking on the pencil icon at the top right of the editor.
For more information, please see this link: Editing Pages
Creating a new page
The easiest way to create a new page is to type the title of your new page in the Search bar and hit Return. The resulting search results page will say "Create the page "Your Page Title" on this wiki!". If you click that you'll be shown an edit form for your new page.
Creating a new page for a piece of equipment at Asmbly
We have a page called Equipment Template, which includes a lot of the basic information we need for a piece of equipment. To use it:
- "Edit Source" on Equipment Template
- copy the entire source
- create your new page (or open your existing page)
- switch to the Source editor
- paste the template
- fill in the sections

Adding a page to a Category page
We have category pages like Category:3D Printing. To add a page to a category page, click the 3 line ("hamburger") menu at the top right of the editor, and select Categories. You can enter one or more categories there.
Inserting Links
For more information on inserting internal or external links into a page, please follow this link: Links
Adding media to a page
On the toolbar, click Insert, and then Images and Media. The wiki will only allow you to upload files up to 2mb. If there is a video you'd like to add that doesn't already exist on the internet, request that we add it to the Asmbly Youtube page and then you can link to it from the wiki.
