Inland glass grinder

Inland WizCG Glass Grinder

Overview

The Inland WizCG is a compact diamond glass grinder designed for shaping and refining glass after cutting. Water continuously lubricates the diamond grinding bit, reducing airborne glass dust and cooling glass while grinding. The grinder accepts standard grinder bits and features a removable water reservoir for easy cleaning and maintenance.

Important: never dispose of used grinder water or glass sludge in the plumbing system. It will turn to cement and can cause serious plumbing damage. Use the disposal bucket provided and bring all grinder waste to the dumpster after each use.

Safety

  • Never operate the grinder without water in the reservoir. Running the grinder dry can generate airborne glass dust, which is hazardous to breathe and can damage the grinding bit.
  • Always wear safety glasses. Small glass chips may be ejected during grinding.
  • Always use the clear face shield and grinder splatter shield to reduce the spread of glass debris.
  • Keep the power cord and plug dry. Unplug the grinder before changing bits, cleaning, or performing maintenance.
  • Use light, even pressure and allow the diamond bit to do the work. Excessive force can injure your fingers on sharp glass edges, damage the workpiece, and shorten bit life.
  • The grinder is designed for grinding glass only. Do not use it to grind metal, stone, wood, or other materials.
  • After cutting or grinding, wipe down work surfaces with a wet paper towel to collect any fine glass particles and shards.

Setup

Fill the Reservoir

  1. Remove the work surface from the grinder.
  2. Fill the reservoir with clean water to the recommended fill line shown below.
  3. Reinstall the work surface.

The water cools the grinding bit, suppresses glass dust, and flushes away grinding debris. Never operate the grinder without water. If you notice dry glass dust while grinding, stop immediately and add water to the reservoir.

Install the Grinding Bit

  1. Loosen the set screw using the supplied Allen wrench.
  2. Align the set screw with the flat side of the motor shaft. If the bit does not slide on easily, loosen the set screw further—never force the bit onto the shaft.
  3. Slide the grinding bit onto the motor shaft until the grinder's work surface is aligned with the middle of the diamond surface, leaving approximately ¼–¾ inch of diamond surface exposed above the work surface.
  4. Tighten the set screw securely.

Important: Tightening the set screw against the rounded side of the motor shaft can damage the shaft and make the bit difficult to remove.

Assemble the Grinder

  1. Install the BitSert and splash guard.
  2. Wet the sponge and position it between the splash guard and grinder bit so it lightly contacts the grinding bit.
  3. Insert the face shield into the mounting holes at the rear of the grinder.
  4. Place the splatter guard around the outside of the grinder.

Power On

Turn the grinder on using the side-mounted power switch. Verify that:

  • The bit rotates smoothly and quietly.
  • The sponge is delivering water to the bit and that the bit remains wet during operation.

Cleaning (After Each Use)

  1. Turn off and unplug the grinder.
  2. Loosen the set screw and remove the grinding bit.
  3. Empty the dirty water into the designated waste bucket. Do not pour grinder water down any sink or drain. Glass sludge hardens as it dries and can clog plumbing.
  4. Scrape any remaining glass sludge from the reservoir into the waste bucket.
  5. Tie off the waste bucket liner and dispose of it in a dumpster.
  6. Use the outdoor hose near the Asmbly entrance to thoroughly rinse the reservoir, work surface, and sponge.
  7. Wipe the work surface, face shield, and splatter guard with a wet paper towel to remove glass debris.
  8. Reassemble the grinder.

Troubleshooting

Problem Possible Cause Solution
White paste forms while grinding Sponge is not contacting the bit, the water level is too low, or the grinder water needs to be changed Reposition the sponge and add/ change water in the reservoir.
Dry glass dust accumulates while grinding Water level too low Add water to the reservoir before continuing.
Grinding requires excessive force Diamond surface is worn or clogged Clean the bit, raise or lower it slightly to expose a fresh section of diamond surface, or replace the bit if worn.
Grinding bit will not fit onto the motor shaft Set screw is not loosened or bit is misaligned Loosen the set screw fully and align it with the flat side of the motor shaft before installing the bit.
Grinding bit will not slide down far enough Bit installed upside down Remove the bit, flip it over, and reinstall it.
